SUMMARY:Psychological Safety in the Workplace
DESCRIPTION:Foster an environment that supports mental health\nThis 2-hour\, live\, facilitated online course is designed for anybody who works in the construction industry\, whether you are a leader or a crew member on a worksite. \nCreating an Acceptable Workplace Culture makes sense when we understand the impact of unacceptable behaviour. It’s important to have a clear grasp of how physical safety\, productivity\, retention\, individual mindset\, attitude\, teamwork and time management are affected when workplace culture is (or isn’t) functioning to its highest potential. Through the “Psychological Safety in the Workplace” training course\, individuals discover how they can advocate for themselves in the workplace and contribute to a respectful and supportive work environment. \n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Summary:\n\nDefining psychological safety.\nUnderstanding acceptable and unacceptable behaviours and their impact.\nUnderstanding and addressing key barriers to inclusivity (eg. bias\, stereotyping\, microaggessions)\nLearning how to be an active bystander: advocating for yourself and others.\nRespectful communication.\nFostering mental health through positive workplace culture – we all have a role to play.\nQ&A/Discussions/Exercises/Handouts included.\n\nCourse Outcomes:\n\nUnderstand how negative behaviors pose psychological/physical safety risks.\nIdentify and address barriers that can prevent a positive and respectful workplace.\nDiscover ways to take an active role in intervening when unacceptable behaviour occurs.\nLearn how you can contribute to a respectful work environment.

DESCRIPTION:Are you ready to improve site and company safety\, productivity\, and retention? It starts with worksite culture. \nThis 6.5-hour session can be scheduled in one session\, or in 3 segments on different days\, and is designed for anyone in Construction. The course covers a suite of useful tools for practical and effective ways to tackle old-fashioned behaviours and negative patterns. \nThis course is worth 2 Gold Seal credits\, as accredited by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Summary:\n\n\n\nDefining an Acceptable Worksite Culture\nThe Benefits of an Acceptable Worksite Culture\nThe Nature and Impact of Unacceptable Worksite Culture\nKey Barriers to Acceptable Worksite Cultures and Conduct\nTools for Building Acceptable Worksite Cultures\nPlanning for Success\n\n\n\nCourse Objective:\n\nBuild awareness across the construction workforce to lead the evolution of the worksite culture to one that is free from unacceptable conduct (hazing\, harassment\, bullying\, and discrimination) to one that is welcoming\, supportive\, and productive for all workers.\n\n\nFacilitate the “unlearning” of attitudinal biases\, stereotypes\, and inequitable or hostile conduct and practices that create barriers for the success and wellbeing of all workers and companies in the construction trades.\n\n\nDevelop the specific knowledge and skills across the workforce for all workers to confidently and effectively identify and address incidents of bias\, exclusion\, harassment\, hazing\, and bullying on the work site.\n\n\nMotivate all employees to accept their role and responsibility for maintaining a healthy worksite culture\, and inspire those persons who could be site role models or leads to support colleagues from other demographic groups\, as well as to monitor and hold others accountable for behaviour that is not acceptable.
